Ojo Fashions | A Fashion Dream Takes Flight
Hi! I’m Stephanie Jones. Thank you for reading my fashion story.
As I entered my 50th year, I was deeply filled with gratitude and love—for God, for family, and for the journey that’s brought me here to designing the clothing brand Ojo Fashions. With a heart shaped by rich experiences and a passion for fashion, I created Ojo Fashions as a way to blend my love of design with a commitment to sustainability and artistry.
Ojo Fashions began in March 2020, during a time of profound change. With two sewing machines, a vision, and a lifetime of inspiration, I transformed a dream into reality. Fashion has always been woven into my life, starting in my childhood in Belleville, New York, a community that valued hard work and artisanal skills. Early on, I learned sewing and patternmaking through local Girl Scouts and 4-H programs. Mrs. Pope, my inspiring home economics teacher, taught me the art of sewing with precision and professionalism, instilling in me the belief that running a home is a business worthy of dedication.
My mother, Canadian-born and raised, cherished beautiful dressing—a passion passed down from her mother. Together, they embraced iconic designers like Elsa Schiaparelli, Valentino, and Dior, which shaped my early love for fashion. This love translated into my own career, working in retail and modeling, including memorable experiences mannequin modeling vintage clothing and appearing in advertisements for Lantern Dancer Gallery in Cowboys and Indians magazine. I later managed Lantern Dancer Gallery in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, curated the Super Chic BOHO line for Autumn Teneyl Designs, and helped my dear friend Jennifer Babiak bring her vision for Li’l Skirts—the reversible snapwrap skirt—to life.
But it’s the combination of my mother’s timeless style, the discipline of classical ballet, and years of mental conditioning that truly brought Ojo Fashions to life. My years as a classical ballerina taught me focus, perseverance, and grace, skills that seamlessly complemented my sewing journey. My friend and fellow dancer Kirsten, who served as our ballet company’s garment mistress, shared invaluable tricks of the trade that deepened my understanding of craftsmanship and design.
Ojo Fashions came to me on a romantic trip with my husband to Ojo Caliente Hot Springs. “Ojo” means “eye” or “God’s eye” in Spanish, symbolizing an all-seeing presence that inspires vision beyond the physical. This powerful symbol, woven into the heart of Ojo Fashions, encourages me to create pieces that are thoughtful, unique, and filled with intention.
Each garment in the Ojo Fashions collection is crafted from ethically sourced, designer-end fabric remnants. These sustainable pieces are designed for women and men who appreciate fashion that celebrates style, comfort, and individuality—fashion that’s both meaningful and beautiful.
